Braida, the winery founded in Rocchetta Tanaro (Asti) by Giacomo Bologna in 1961 returns to Düsseldorf, to ProWein, from 15 to 17 May 2022 in the VIP Weine stand – Hall16 – G21.
All of Braida’s expressions of Barbera will be available for tasting: La Monella, Barbera del Monferrato frizzante – the 2021 vintages of which will be presented -, the reserves, Montebruna, Bricco dell’Uccellone and Ai Suma (all from the 2019 harvest, with Bricco dell’Uccellone and Ai Suma, presented as a preview of the wines due for release in September) and Bricco della Bigotta (2018, Tastevin Ais award, first place in the Barbera Trophy 2022 of Falstaff magazine, with 95 points).
Barbera is also the protagonist, joining Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, in the blend of Il Bacialé (2019, due for release in September), as well as in the Grappa Invecchiata di Bricco dell’Uccellone (2017).
“Barbera is in our DNA” – explain Raffaella and Giuseppe Bologna, owners of the winery – “and it is without doubt the grape variety that best identifies Braida in the world. It’s the great love of our family, the wine of our relationships, ever since those first vineyards, left by grandfather Giuseppe to our father Giacomo, where the grapes used to make La Monella are cultivated. Then those in Belveglio, which our mother Anna brought as her dowry and where, next September, we will be celebrating the fortieth harvest of Bricco dell’Uccellone. And the vineyards of Montebruna, which we bought and put together, and which we still look at today with great pride: a year ago we enriched the area by planting a wood populated with oak trees, making a promise of sustainability for our children and the land where we live”.
But Braida, by tradition, is also Limonte, Grignolino d’Asti Doc (2021), which originates above Rocchetta Tanaro, in soil rich in clay and silt that gives the wine its unmistakable structure, and the aromatic wines, Vigna Senza Nome, Moscato d’Asti Docg (2021) and Brachetto d’Acqui (2021).
And for more than thirty years, the Rocchetta Tanaro winery has been offering great white wines of the Langa, from the Serra dei Fiori estate in Trezzo Tinella: La Regina, Langhe Nascetta Doc (2021), Il Fiore, Langhe Bianco Doc, made from Nascetta and Chardonnay (2021), Re di Fiori, Langhe Riesling Doc (2020).
