*IL BACIALÉ 2020 Monferrato Rosso DOC
Il Bacialè is signature wine of the of Braida’s cellar master, owner Giuseppe Bologna.
In recent years, Giuseppe’s work on Il Bacialè has led to a halving of the quantity produced in the three most recent harvests to achieve a wine of perfect quality and enhance its evolutionary potential.
With the 2020 vintage, Il Bacialè also saw a modification in its blend composition, with the definitive removal of Pinot Noir and an increase in the quantity of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, which was first introduced in the 2016 vintage. The percentages of Merlot and Barbera, however, remain unchanged.
Geographically, the vineyards are located in the territories of Rocchetta Tanaro, Castelnuovo Calcea, and San Marzano Oliveto: areas with a great and historic winemaking tradition and vocation.
After the separate vinification of individual grape varieties, the ageing now lasts for three years, with one year in barrique, one in large cask, and the final one in the bottle.
Available in the market after more than three years from the harvest, like Braida’s reserve wines, Il Bacialè is also a romantic wine, containing “kiss” in its name. However, in Piedmontese dialect, “bacialè” is actually a true Cupid: the one who arranges marriages by pairing couples and bringing betrothed individuals together.
Our Il Bacialè indeed represents a arranged marriage: we unite the great family love, Barbera, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. And it is a successful marriage, destined for a happy aging process.
